In order to be your happiest and healthiest self, there are certain things you can do to set yourself up for success. Here are some of the things that the healthiest people are doing each day before they go to bed.
You’ve likely heard this advice before, but it’s good advice. Before bed, in order to get good quality sleep, you need to be physically relaxed. And darkness helps signal our minds to feel tired. TVs, computers, phones and the like disrupt that signal. So instead of bringing that phone or tablet to bed, power it down before move them out of your bedroom.
“If it’s near you on your night table, you’ll be tempted to check it,” she says. Is your cell your alarm? Set the ringer all the way up, but leave your phone on silent.
According to Michael Kerr, an international business speaker and author of You Can’t Be Serious! Putting Humor to Work, “Many successful people find value in being browsers of information from a variety of sources, believing it helps fuel greater creativity and passion in their lives.”
Over-thinking and stress can be the enemy of a good night’s sleep. So get all of those to-dos in your head onto paper. That way, you can review those things that are stuck on your mind onto paper and out your head.
A powerful way to increase happiness is to remember and reflect on what you’re thankful for. A gratitude journal can help you do just that. Just keep a journal by your bed and write down 3 things you’re grateful for each day.
