Producer Tracey Edmonds and football coach Deion Sanders met in 2012, and what started as a working relationship quickly transitioned into a romantic one. The couple have been long-distance dating ever since, and in 2019, the couple announced that they were engaged.

Now, in 2023, Edmonds and Sanders have announced that the engagement is off, and they have decided to be friends. In a joint post on Instagram on Sunday December 3, 2023, the former couple shared a picture on Instagram alongside the text, “We have mutually decided that it is best for us to move forward in life AS FRIENDS and have made this decision with love in our hearts, respect for each other, and appreciation for the time we’ve shared together.” The exes asked for “prayers as we go through this transition” and thanked their followers for “for being there for us ALL THESE YEARS! We love you and appreciate you SO MUCH!”

The comments section is currently turned off, but according to PEOPLE, Sanders originally commented, “Love u Tracey and You’ve been a true blessing to me. I appreciate the times we’ve shared and they laughs we’ve had. You are an amazing woman and a tremendous mother. God bless u with every endeavor and every step u take. You are HER. Tracey-Mack !!!”

Sanders met Edmunds at a movie premiere party for a movie she had produced. He contacted her with an idea for a reality show, and they ended up working together on “Deion’s Family Playbook.” Sanders once told PEOPLE, “As I started working with Deion on the show, we grew quite fond of each other and ended up dating.”

The couple dated long-distance because of their respective career ambitions, and that seemed to work for them for a long time. Sanders explained, “We understand each other because we’re busy in our own right.” He added, “It’s not just a separation because you want to be separated, it’s a separation because you are active and you are really influencing lives.”

During a joint interview, Edmunds added, “We just do our very best to see each other as much as we possibly can.”

Sanders has been married twice. He has a total of 5 children, two with his first wife, Carolyn Chambers, and three with his second wife, Pilar Biggers-Sanders.

Edmunds has two sons from her previous relationship to musician Babyface.
