11 Things You Might Have Owned in the ’80s That Could Be Worth a Lot of Money Now

Did you grow up in the ‘80s? If you have an attic full of trinkets from your childhood, you better make a trip up there to look around. There are actually quite a few things from the ‘80s that are being sold for quite a lot of money right now—things you may have picked up at a garage sale way back when for a nickel!

Hurry up and list these on eBay and make some extra bucks while you can (and enjoy this blast from the past).

  1. Teddy Ruxpin

The bear that spoke! He could read books to kids! A true phenomenon. Well, some people have paid around $1,000 for one. One on Etsy even sold for $700.

  2. C3P0 Cereal Box

Sure, not many of us keep cereal boxes for 40 years, but if you’re someone who did, you’re going to be glad you did! This Star Wars special-edition cereal box is worth a few hundred bucks today.

  3. ThunderCats Lion-O Action Figure

In 2015, one of these sold for over $2,700. It was still on the card—but even if you have one in okay condition, you may still be able to make a couple hundred dollars.

  4. G.I. Joe

Okay, so not just ANY G.I. is worth money, but the original 1963 prototype sold for $200,000 back in 2003. But even the 1982 series motorized battle tank version can be worth up to $950 if it’s in mint condition (i.e., still in the box). Out of the box and the price goes down significantly.

  5. Garbage Pail Kids Cards

These sticker trading cards were all the rage in the ’80s, and now you can make anywhere from $120 to $4,000 depending on the card.

  6. Astronaut B Pez Dispenser

Okay, okay, this one’s kind of cheating: There were only two made, with the purpose to promote the World’s Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1982. One of them sold for $32,000 in 2006. Who has the other one in their attic?

  7. American Girl Dolls

While most of the original first-edition American Girl Dolls that were created in 1986 are worth money, the original Samantha doll sold on eBay in 2015 for $4,200.

  8. Laser Light Skeletor

Masters of the Universe was actually a flop—so much so that Mattel only released these Laser Light Skeletors in Italy and Spain under foreign names. No wonder they’re worth over $10,000 now!

  9. Power Drencher Super Soaker

There was nothing quite like “shooting” your parents…with water, that is. This particular “super soaker” goes for up to $600.

  10. Stadium Events Nintendo Game

Because this 1987 Bandai game was recalled (in order for Nintendo to do some rebranding), the original Stadium Events game might be worth up to $1,000.

  11. Fireball Island Board Game

This Milton Bradley board game created in 1986 could bring in about $250 (for something that was likely sold in the single digits way back when!).

Holy moly! Who knew all of these toys would be worth so much money to this day? Do you have any of these toys hanging around? Have you ever made a lot of money on something you bought decades ago for a cheap price?
