Clogging Group Won the Title With Their Amazing, High-Energy Routine

If you’ve ever witnessed a group of people clogging, you know how mesmerizing it is. The way they move their feet so quickly yet swiftly to the beat of the music is truly a magical feat—and so, so impressive.

If you’re not sure what clogging is, allow us to give you a brief history lesson: Originating in the 1700s, clogging is a type of dance that requires a particular footwear in which the dancer is able to tap their heel, toe, or both against a floor or each other, to create a catchy musical beat as they go.

Sounds like tap dancing, right? Don’t be fooled. Clogging is more flat-footed than tap dancing is, and cloggers tend to make the most sounds with their heels whereas tap dancers more so use the balls of their feet. Also, tap dancing usually only requires one person performing, whereas clogging is usually performed in groups of people.

Speaking of groups of cloggers, while we find all clogging eye-catching, one group has us completely blown away.

The group, called “Tap This!” is based in Lincoln, Nebraska and made up of 14 talented cloggers. And man—we’ve never been unimpressed with a group of cloggers, but this one really stands out among the rest. There’s just something about the way this group moves their feet in sync that has our jaws hitting the floor.

Each person in Tap This! has been clogging for about five years, and has been traveling across the country to perform their routines on all different stages for all different kinds of people.

“Tap This! strives in showcasing talent from all over the nation by creating a variety show like you have never seen before,” the group collectively writes on their Facebook page.

What’s more, Tap This! is a four-time national champion dance group. They’ve truly out shined (or shall we say out tapped) the competitive clogging world, and continue to remain undefeated.

One of their performances in particular has gained a lot of traction lately, probably because of how compelling it is. People from all over are drawn to the now viral video.

“I think I broke my replay button,” someone commented.

“The joy of dance excels in this performance!” someone else wrote.

It even got previous cloggers reminiscing about when they used to dance. “I grew up clogging then when we moved halfway across country our new home didn’t have it,” someone wrote. “I was so upset but I just started teaching myself—you can tell when people really enjoy what they do.”

Their amazing choreographed routine is to the tune of the song “Honey I’m Good” by Andy Grammar, and is what brought the group the 2016 national championship title. And for good reason—their high energy and creative stepping moves really has the crowd going.
