There’s something about becoming a parent that makes even the toughest, most macho men into tender-hearted dads who have trouble saying no to their kids. Sure, the sweet guy has been there the entire time, but kids bring out this inner love and compassion in a whole new way.
If you have children, you probably know what we’re talking about. Our kids can get us to do things nobody else could get us to do, like waking up at all hours and playing dress-up.
Dwayne Johnson, aka “The Rock,” is right there with us. Even though he got his start as a professional wrestler and starred in movies like “The Scorpion King” and the Fast and the Furious franchise, he’s always had a softer side.
We can see this softer side in other roles he’s taken on like in the movie “Tooth Fairy” and by voicing the character of Maui in “Moana.” However, nothing shows just how well he has his priorities straight like a recent Instagram post that included a picture of his daughter.
In the picture, Johnson is standing in his closet holding his daughter. She looks so small and comfortable in his arms. Johnson wrote,
Working late and had only 3hrs sleep when this tornado 🌪 busts in our bedroom, jumps on me and pleads with me to get up and take her to my closet (she keeps toys in my closet) to play.
We get there and then – surprise – she refuses to play and just wants me to hold her while she makes fart noises 💨🤦🏾♂️
Tired as all hell, but thought ehh there’s gonna come a time, years from now when jumping in my arms is the last thing she wants to do and ain’t gonna be cool anymore — so I’ll always take these moments while I can.
If you’re a parent, you’ve probably experienced moments like this, moments where you’re “tired as all hell” but you savor each and every moment because you know they’re fleeting. We’ve experienced these moments where even though we’re so tired, we never want the moment to end.
Another post by Johnson shows him sitting in a chair ready to leave for work while his daughter stands on her tippy toes painting his face. He told his daughter that he needed to leave for work, but she insisted on painting his face. He finally gave in saying,
Ok, but make sure you choose manly colors that are flattering to my complexion.
As much as I tell her no, with my crazy busy life, this is the stuff I actually love.
Isn’t this the sweetest thing ever? We have to wonder how everyone reacted when he showed up for work with his face painted. What an example of a great dad.
What’s a moment you’ve experienced with your children that you wanted to hold onto forever?
