There’s a Sugar Plantation in the Mountains of Kauai That You Can Go Tubing Down

As if Hawaii didn’t offer some of the most stunning beaches, scenery, and hikes, now there’s even more of a reason to visit. If you’re seeking something adventurous, but fun, thrilling and exciting, you’ve got to check out this awesome activity in Kauai. It’ll make your trip to Hawaii a vacation to remember.

The tubing activity is offered by Kauai Backcountry Adventures, and here’s how it works, from start to finish: You’ll first head out on a four-wheeler with your guide, who will take you to the tubing destination. Ride through the breathtaking scenery of Kauai and learn a thing or two from your guide, who will be telling you all about the island of Kauai.

Once you get to an old sugar plantation (the former Lihue Plantation), you’ll get in one of the tubes, put a headlamp on your head, and get in the water to begin your adventure. Enjoy some musical entertainment as you glide by open canals and tunnels that were made by hand in the 1870s. I mean talk about scenery—you’ll be absolutely stunned by the surroundings of the location while you traverse around your tube in the water.

On your ride, there are several tunnels you’ll go through (that’s what the headlamp is for) to explore. It’s a truly magical sight (at least for the non claustrophobic people—the tunnels are a bit tight and some are a little long, so just something to take note of!).

After the three-hour tubing session, you’ll probably be a bit hungry, and your adventure guides have you covered. You’ll end the event with an enchanted picnic at a scenic swimming hole. Take a dip, eat some food, and just forget about all your cares in the world.

Don’t take it from us—take it from the nearly 7,500 people who reviewed the activity on TripAdvisor. With that many reviews, they still manage to have a solid 5.0/5.0 rating, which is unheard of!

“What an amazing experience and a definite must-do activity on Kauai. It’s such an relaxing and refreshing way to explore Kauai’s lush landscapes. There is no other experience like this and I highly recommend it,” one reviewer said (and pretty much the gist of all the other reviewers).

People even commented about how they’ve gone with young kids to their elders, and everyone always has a blast. It’s truly perfect for anyone, no matter what your activity level is. It’s especially great for those who aren’t into the rocky rapids of the water; this is the perfect activity for these kinds of people, since the water is so gentle.

The cost is $110 per person (must be over age 5 and at least 43 inches tall) plus tax—which we think is pretty darn reasonable for such a one-of-a-kind adventure!

Next time we go to Hawaii, we’re definitely signing up for this. To see clips of people having a blast on this tubing adventure, check out the video below!
