Don’t Buy Knife Protectors, Here’s How To Make Them

If you have kitchen knives (which we’d be willing to bet, you do), you most likely keep them in a utensil drawer. If that’s the case, we’re here to tell you that this is not the best way to store knives. Not only is leaving bare knives in a drawer dangerous for you or the kids, but it actually wears away at your blade, dulling your knife. Don’t worry, you don’t have to go out and buy a knife block or knife protectors. You can actually make your own knife protectors for cheap using this easy DIY! Watch the video to see how it’s done.

To make your DIY knife protector, all you need are some basic office supplies you probably have at home right now.

YOU’LL NEED

– Manila folder
– Pen
– Scissor
– Ruler
– Stapler

STEP 1: Place your knife along the crease of your manila folder.
STEP 2: Use a ruler and a pen to mark a half inch above the tip of the knife and a half inch away from the spine of the knife.
STEP 3: Using these marks, cut the folder into a rectangle.
STEP 4: Staple the folder on the top and along the open edge, at one inch intervals. Leave the bottom open to slide in your knife!

If your bulky knife handle won’t let you fully cover your blade, use your scissor and just snip a slit in the paper – this will allow you to slide your blade in further.

This simple, inexpensive DIY will cost you next to nothing and works wonders! This trick works on knives of all sizes, and protects you, your family, AND your knife from future harm.
