Stevie Nicks Shares Desperate Plea for People Who Are Not Taking Coronavirus Seriously

When the coronavirus pandemic started, we all hoped it would end before summer. As it raged through the summer, many people got weary of social distancing, and numbers increased instead of decreased.

It seems that many new cases of COVID-19 are associated with family gatherings. It seems that people aren’t taking it as seriously as they could. Some refuse to wear masks. Some ignore social distancing. Some think it’s all a hoax.

Unfortunately, many people know first hand that the virus is real. They also know it can threaten your life even if you are otherwise young and healthy. They also know that even if you don’t have serious symptoms, you could give it to someone else who ends up in the hospital.

Singer and songwriter Stevie Nicks wants everyone to take the pandemic seriously. At 72 years old, she’s worried about her own health and her chance of ever performing again.

In a recent Facebook post, which she called a “journal entry,” she compared the pandemic to a season she was in of “American Horror Story.”

“What’s going on in our country now, is a real  ‘American Horror Story.’ Nobody is leading us. Nobody has a plan. Unless people change their attitude from – ‘Oh this is such a bummer to stay in and wear a mask and follow the rules, and not party’ ~ We will never get ahead of this virus.”

She went on to emphasize just how serious this virus really is and how it can forever effect your life if you get it.

“This virus can kill you. It can kill me. Kill my chances of pulling on those boots and hitting the road~ Kill the chances that any of us in the music community will ever get back to the stage, because we would never put you in danger~ never take you and your life for granted. Never put your family members who are older and more fragile in danger. You should feel the same. You take deadly chances because you think you’re immortal. You’re not. If you get this virus, your life will be forever changed. Your beauty will be stolen from you. You will age as you fight for your life. You will age as you fight your way back…if you survive.”

Getting personal, Nicks expressed her concern that if she gets the virus she will probably never sing again.

If I get it, I will probably never sing again. Put me on a ventilator and I will be hoarse for the rest of my life~ I don’t have much time… I am 72 years old….”

While we would all like life to get back to normal, we can’t just choose to ignore a virus that really exists and assume it will go away on its own. Please refer to the CDC guidelines for mask wearing and social distancing. There are multiple case studies that show these precautions really do make a big difference.
