The Real-Life ‘Steel Magnolias’ House Could Be the Perfect Spot for Your Girls’ Trip
In the heart of Louisiana lies one of the coolest living pieces of film history around: it’s the VERY home that serves as a centerpiece for the chick flick classic, Steel Magnolias! Now, in case if you’ve never seen the late ’80s classic, let us refresh your memory. The tearjerker stars some of our all-time favorite actresses, including Oscar-winner, Sally Field, purveyor of the greatest quotes ever, Dolly Parton, the legendary Shirley MacLaine, and even a young Julia Roberts.
A whole lot of heartwarming–and heartbreaking!–things go down in the iconic Southern film, but one of the things that has always stuck out in our heads as being special about is the gorgeous home featured in it. As it turns out, that very house was not a Hollywood set; it actually exists as a bed and breakfast, right in Natchitoches, Louisianna.
The bed and breakfast, which is appropriately-named ‘Steel Magnolia House’, is a classic home sitting on a gorgeous estate lined with azaleas, wisterias, and, of course, magnolia trees. The home itself is roughly 5,900 square feet and includes six stately guest rooms and even an 800-square foot guest house.
The historic home has been around since the early-to-mid 1800s (it’s so old that county home records don’t date back prior to that time!), but the bed and breakfast has only been in existence for about 5 years. While the Steel Magnolia House may be a newer attraction in Natchitoches, it sure is one that has been getting a lot of attention, especially from the bridal party and girls-tripper sets!

And why wouldn’t it? This gorgeous–and highly-Instagrammable!–B&B pretty much has ‘Southern charm’ written all over it. In addition to the spacious guest rooms, the home also features beautiful gardens, a huge pool to chill beside, and even a sitting area complete with a flat-screen TV. We wonder if anyone has ever watched Steel Magnolias on it…
