“One Tree Hill” actress Sophia Bush recently announced that she is ending her second marriage. Her first marriage was with her co-star Chad Michael Murray, but that marriage was extremely short lived lasting only 5 months.
Bush’s second marriage was to entrepreneur Grant Hughes. The former couple met 10 years ago and quickly became friends. According to a source who spoke to PEOPLE, Bush and Hughes took their relationship to the next level during COVID. The source explained, “Sophia and Grant were friends for 10 years and bonded during COVID through their love of community service.”
The couple tied the knot in June 2022, and on their one year anniversary, there was no sign that there was any trouble in their relationship. They both posted sweet and romantic thoughts about each other and their marriage on Instagram. Hughes shared a series of photos from their relationship and wrote, “Happy 1st Anniversary, my love!” He added, “What a full, beautiful, dynamic, exciting, growth-filled year we’ve had together. I truly love doing life with you!”
Hughes also took the time to mention the card he gave his wife for their one-year anniversary. He shared, “As the card I gave you this morning said: “There are seven billion people on this planet. You are my favourite.”

Bush has since deleted the Instagram post she shared in honor of their anniversary, but at the time, she wrote, “Today marks 365 days of calling you ‘husband’…Best decision of my life. It still feels just like this. Ecstatic. Running toward the future, grinning and laughing, together. I love you, my favorite. Happy Anniversary.”
Bush and Hughes have only been married for 13 months. No word yet on what happened in the past few weeks to take the couple from wedded bliss to divorce papers.
According to PEOPLE’s source, Bush and Hughes “continue to run their nonprofit together and remain good friends.” How true that is for the future is yet to be seen. The fact that Bush removed all evidence of Hughes from her Instagram and quickly changed her name on the social media platform from Sophia Bush Hughes to Sophia Bush speaks volumes on how she currently feels about her most recent ex.
