Bride Starts to Walk Down the Aisle But Stops to Deliver This Message to Her Groom Instead
Who doesn’t love a good wedding? Sure, we complain about shelling out hard-earned cash for that umpteenth bridesmaid’s dress or a plane ticket for a ceremony that just so happens to be across the country in the height of summer, but once we have a glass of wine in hand while watching the lovely couple exchange their vows, we truly couldn’t be happier!
In fact, we love the feeling so much that seeking out seriously epic weddings to share with you has pretty much become a full-time obsession of ours.
Luckily, there are plenty of these to peruse on social media that have gone viral for one reason or another—sometimes the couple has been through a life-changing event together, other times something really out of the ordinary happens on the big day—but the one that we’re sharing with you today may just be the most romantic ceremony we’ve come across yet.
The newly-minted viral video was shot on January 26th during Liz and Scott Shoesmith’s Caringbah, Austrailia wedding.
The clip starts off ordinarily enough, with Liz looking absolutely stunning in a see-through, slip-style wedding dress. She is standing alone at the end of the aisle when a familiar song comes on, “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri. (Believe it or not, we’ve featured not one, but TWO other weddings that have used this same exact tune!)
Suddenly, the blushing bride’s arms begin to move—at first, it looks like she’s going to do some sort of slow, rhythmic dance down the aisle, but after a few more seconds, we realize that she is, in fact, signing the lyrics of the song to her soon-to-be hubby.
What we failed to mention is that Scott is deaf. He and Liz communicate using Auslan, otherwise known as Australian Sign Language. This means that the bride’s beautiful interpreting skills made it possible for Scott to truly be part of this important moment. How sweet is that?!
How this bride’s stunning walk down the aisle went viral
This super sweet clip, which has already been ‘liked’ hundreds of thousands of times, first got the attention of the public when Liz, herself, shared it with Love What Matters. With it, she included this caption:
Even though Scott is deaf, I have never felt more heard in my entire life. For every joy he has brought into my life over the last two years, I wanted to surprise him with my entrance. I won’t lie, I was terrified before walking into the ceremony. But the moment I locked eyes with him I never looked away and it was a special moment just between the two of us.
He held it together for a few seconds before crying the whole way through the song. He has re-watched the video a hundred times since and he still cries every time.
Yep, we’re crying right now—and we think you will be, too, once you watch the video. To see this super romantic, walk down the aisle for yourself, be sure to watch the video below. We promise, you’ll never be able to think about this song the same way, ever again!
We’d love to hear your thoughts on this very special couple’s wedding ceremony. Were you surprised by the bride’s entrance? Did you do something similar for your spouse on your wedding day? What is your all-time favorite viral wedding?
