Back in 2020, when many people were leaning into wearing PJs all day as the pandemic waned on, wedding gown designer Vera Wang posted a picture on Instagram that shocked her fans.

The caption on the picture read, “When a bit of bling is needed……” She seemed to be referencing the blinged out hair accessory she was wearing, but that’s not what anyone noticed.

Besides the hair accessory, Wang sported a bright orange sports bra and short denim shorts. She looked truly stunning. If she were only 20, she would’ve looked stunning, but she was 70 years old in this picture. That left many of her fans begging her for the secrets to not just aging gracefully but appearing not to age at all!

At the time, Wang was surprised by the questions about how she managed to look so good. She told PEOPLE, “To be perfectly honest, the real goal of that picture was the hair clips I had in my hair. And hair clips don’t exactly show up that well in a picture. So we really had to minimize whatever I was wearing and to keep the focus on my hair and those crystal clips. And the fact it became about my Palm Angels workout top was so crazy.”

Wang also shared what she feels are the secrets to her success when it comes to looking young and staying in shape. She credits “work, sleep, a vodka cocktail, not much sun.”

She also admits to eating fast food on a regular basis. Two of her favorites are McDonald’s and Dunkin Donuts. She claims that she’ll eat at McDonald’s every day for two weeks before switching up what she eats. As far as Dunkin, she has two favorite donuts. “I like the cream-filled, sugar-coated donut. It’s like a jelly donut, but it’s cream inside, vanilla cream. I like the pink with sprinkles, too.”

If she’s not eating a super healthy diet, it might be easy to assume that exercise is the secret to Wang’s success. That’s not entirely true. Wang claims that she doesn’t exercise on a regular basis. Instead, it’s “sporadic.” However, she used to exercise quite often when she was younger. She explained, “I mean, I was an elite athlete in my youth. I was a competitive figure skater in the United States and a dancer at Balanchine School of American Ballet. I think when you spend the first 16 years of your life that physically engaged, there is such a thing that it sort of stays with you. There’s a muscle memory that goes with that.”

While it might sound like Wang is spending her days eating junk food and not exercising, that’s not entirely true. What she’s actually doing is working, and she thinks that’s the true secret to staying young as long as possible. She told Page Six, “Basically, I’ve worked my whole life, so it’s really been about work.” She added, “I think work keeps you young and stimulated. I work very long hours, I’ve raised two daughters. I think keeping busy is the best antidote [for] good health.”
