Homemade cookies make a great gift for anyone on your holiday list. And if you’re planning to pack cookies into tins to give out this year, you’ll want to be in on this helpful little tip from America’s Test Kitchen.

To keep cookies from drying out, simply pack them between layers of parchment and tortillas. Here’s how it’s done in the video below:

They pack a tortilla between two circles of parchment paper, place it at the bottom of the tin, cover it with a layer of cookies, and repeat until the tin is filled, ending with a layer of cookies. The moisture from the tortillas keeps the cookies from drying out and their flat, round shape means they don’t take up much room in the tin.
