Actress Sofía Vergara is in Italy where she’s celebrating her 51st birthday with her best friends. While this may seem like happy news, some of her followers on social media have noticed something strange about the photos and videos she’s been posting. Her husband, Joe Manganiello, isn’t in any of them. They also noticed that Vergara wasn’t wearing her wedding ring.

At first, Vergara and Manganiello claimed that they simply weren’t together for her birthday celebration because of Manganiello’s filming schedule. A source told Page Six, “At the start of Sofia’s big birthday trip those close to her were explaining away Joe’s absence with the excuse that he was busy filming back on the East Coast; that excuse barely held up due to the writer’s strike, but once the actor’s strike took effect, he could have been on the first flight… and he quite clearly is not.”
Her fans weren’t reading into things. Now, the news is official. Vergara and Manganiello have split up. After seven years of marriage, the couple has released a statement explaining, “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”

This wasn’t a sudden decision. Another source told Page Six, “Sofía and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”
The first source added, “Now no one out there with her is even attempting to pretend that it’s not over. It’s over. It’s done.”
Some of Vergara’s fans have been posting comments on her social media posts urging the star to work things out with her husband. One person wrote, “You belong with him and your little puppies, please, make it work , it is yours happiness s too, life is as simple as that!”
Another comment reads, “They ask for privacy at this time, yet all this posting? I’m sorry to hear this. I hate to see a marriage fall apart.”
Vergara and Manganiello have been married since 2015 when they tied the knot during a ceremony in Palm Beach. There were more than 400 guests at the wedding including celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Channing Tatum.
