Country singer Morgan Wallen was schedule to perform at two concerts at the Ole Miss stadium in Oxford, Mississippi, over the weekend. The first performance, which was scheduled for Saturday night, went flawlessly, but the second performance, which was scheduled for the very next day on Sunday night left fans angry.
Apparently, after Saturday night’s performance, Wallen noticed that he was having trouble with his voice. In hopes that he could get his voice performance ready by the next day, he did vocal exercises, rested and spoke to his doctor. It didn’t work well enough.
Until the very last moment, Wallen was apparently holding out hope that he would be able to perform. When fans arrived at the concert venue, they had no idea anything was amiss.

The warm up acts performed as planned, but right before Wallen was scheduled to go on stage, the bad news was announced. According to WTVA-TV, video boards inside the stadium announced that Wallen would not be performing and that guests would be refunded for their concert tickets.
Wallen also announced the disappointing news in his Instagram stories. He posted a statement that reads, “After last night’s show I started losing my voice so I spent the day resting up, talking to my doctor and working on vocal exercises trying to get better. I really thought I’d be able to take the stage and it kills me to deliver this so close to showtime, but my voice is shot and I am unable to sing.” He explained that the tickets would be refunded and added, “I am so sorry, I promise you guys I tried everything I could.”
Canceling the show when fans had already been at the venue for quite some time was more than disappointing to many fans. As some fans pointed out, being refunded for the tickets wasn’t really enough. One fan pointed out, “Cool but what about the dog sitter, baby sitter, hotel, PTO, and gas money we took for this? You knew this morning @morganwallen.”
Do you think Wallen should’ve canceled the show earlier than he did? Do you think he really thought that he would be able to perform at the concert right up until the concert was about to start? How would you react if you arrived at a concert and it was canceled right before the headliner was scheduled to go on stage?
