Repurpose Your Old Coffee Pot for the Stovetop

i recently had the misfortune to have my bunn coffeemaker die after a mere 6 yrs of service. rather than buy a new one, at 100.00 or more, this is what i did-and continue to do-i took the pitcher carafe that the coffeemaker drips coffee into. sat it on my stovetop. placed the drip coffee container that normally slides into place above the pitcher directly on the top of the pitcher-yes,it will set there.assembled the filter and placed the coffee in it. heated the water in the microwave in large glass mixing bowl that just happens to have a pouring spout. heated the water for 3-4 minutes and poured the water thru. takes about the same amount of time to make a pot of coffee and cost me-nothing! was pretty proud of myself. i will probably never buy a new coffeemaker and we make a lot of coffee.
