In 2019, Rebel Wilson decided that 2020 was going to be her “Year of Health.” She was committed to losing weight and getting healthy.

At first Wilson’s team was not on board with her decision to lose weight, but she didn’t let that stop her. She wanted to be a mom someday, and a doctor told her that in order to make that a reality, she needed to lose weight. Nothing was going to stop her.

Deciding to go on a diet can be easy, but sticking to it can be a lot more difficult. Two years later, Wilson is proving that she is not going back to her old habits. She has changed the way she eats, and she has changed the way she exercises.

Wilson hits the gym almost every day, but she didn’t start out that way. She started her exercise routine in a much easier way.

If you own an Apple Watch, you can listen to Wilson talk about her weight loss and health journey on the season 3 premiere of “Time to Walk” on Apple Fitness+. If you don’t own an Apple Watch, no worries. We’re about to fill you in on the highlights of what Wilson had to say.

The actress walked through Griffith Park in Los Angeles while explaining that she started her health journey with a simple exercise – walking.

In 2019, at an Austrian health retreat, a doctor told Wilson, “Rebel, the best way for you to lose unwanted body fat is by just simply walking, it doesn’t have to be high intensity or uphill…just simply walk an hour a day.”

Wilson took the doctor’s advice to heart. She explained, “It just made me think: OK I should take it a bit easier on myself, and just do it gently and do it lightly. So in 2020 I lost weight but very, very gradually. Sometimes I kicked up things a notch with some workouts and went hard. But, the majority of the work for the year was just doing things like walking for an hour.” Wilson added, “Sometimes the simplest thing like getting out and walking for an hour a day is the kindest thing to your body, and your body will respond to that.”

Wilson is still getting her steps in. Her current exercise routine involves daily cardio, which could be walking or running.

Did you know you could lose weight just by walking an hour a day? Do you wear a fitness tracker that counts your steps? Are you going to try to walk more after learning that walking helped Rebel Wilson lose weight?
