Queen Elizabeth Stepped Out for First Royal Outing of 2022 With Prince Phillip’s Cane

We can only imagine how hard it must be for Queen Elizabeth II to live her day to day life without her husband by her side. Prince Philip was her husband for more than 70 years. The couple married when she was just 21 years old, and they had known each other since she was just 8.

Now, the Queen has to make public appearances and attend celebrations without Philip by her side. Her first public appearance in 2022 was a reception held at Sandringham house the day before the anniversary of the day she became queen. February 6, 2022, marked her 70th year on the thrown.

While Philip was not with her physically, she did bring one of his belongings with her to the event – his cane. She was seen using the cane throughout the event while she mingled with guests.

Philip was first seen using the cane in 2013 after undergoing abdominal surgery. The Queen has been using a cane since October 2021, but this is the first time she has been spotted using her late husband’s cane.

Watch the video below to learn more about this event at Sandringham house and to learn more about her marriage to Prince Philip.

The reception at Sandringham house was the only event the Queen attended in honor of her Platinum Jubilee; however, she did take the opportunity to make some important news. She made it clear that she wants her son Prince Charles’s wife Camilla Parker Bowles to be given the title of Queen when Charles is one day crowned King.

In the Queen’s announcement, she also shared some heartfelt thoughts about her late husband. She explained, “I am fortunate to have had the steadfast and loving support of my family. I was blessed that in Prince Philip I had a partner willing to carry out the role of consort and unselfishly make the sacrifices that go with it. It is a role I saw my own mother perform during my father’s reign.”

Do you think the Queen brought Prince Philip’s cane with her as a way of having him with her at the reception? Do you think we will see the Queen using her late husband’s cane during future events?
