In 2003, Ozzy Osbourne was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, but he did not publicly announce his diagnosis until 2020. More recently, Osbourne’s health has suffered greatly.
On Osbourne’s SiriusXM channel Ozzy Speaks, he shared his most recent health battle. He explained that he had blood clots in his legs and “they put a filter in your artery” to prevent the blood clots from traveling to the heart or brain. He recently had the filter removed, but that doesn’t mean his health battle is over. He explained that “it’s disappointment after disappointment.”
Osbourne shared that he is “in constant pain,” yet he tries “to stay away from the pain medication.”

On July 10, 2023, Osbourne took to social media to give an update on his health and how his health is impacting his decision about whether or not to perform. He shared that his “original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024.” However, he was offered the opportunity to perform in Power Trip Festival in California in October 2023, and “when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward.”
Now, Osbourne is sharing the sad news that he realizes he will not be able to perform in October after all. He wrote, “Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed.”
Even though Osbourne won’t be performing, the show must go on, and it will go on without him. He wrote, “The band that will be replacing me on Power Trip will be announced shortly. They are personal friends of mine and I can promise that you will not be disappointed.”
Osbourne ended his announcement by thanking his fans, band and crew “for their unconditional loyalty and continual support.”

In 2019, Osbourne injured his spine after falling. He ended up needing surgery, but has been determined to get back on stage. Although he still hopes to perform again, he’s also planning his retirement. Earlier in 2023, Osborne told his fans, “I mean, if I could tour, I’d tour. But right now I can’t book tours because right now I don’t think I could pull them off.”
