She Puts Apples in a Crock Pot. What She Does Next Makes Breakfast for the Week.

How would you like to wake up one crisp fall morning and find breakfast ready and waiting for you? It sounds like a dream, but it’s totally within the realm of possibility— as long as you prep first! Ms. Dana Ryan is showing us to use – you guessed it! – our crock pots to create Overnight Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal that’s the perfect start to any day.

You’ll Need

– 2 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced into 2-inch chunks
– 1 1/2 cups water
– 1 1/2 cups milk
– 1 cup steel oats
– 2 tablespoons maple syrup
– 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
– 1 tablespoon ground flax seed
– Pinch of salt
– Optional toppings: Nuts, raisins, additional milk, butter and/or syrup

Since you’re using the magic of the crock pot, all you have to do is combine all of the ingredients – except for the optional toppings! – and give it a stir. Cover and cook on low for seven hours or overnight. When you wake up in the morning, breakfast will be ready, and you can top with whatever calls to you! Which ones will you use? Have you ever made oatmeal in the slow cooker before? How would you adapt this recipe, if at all?
