She’s 116, and She Still Lives on Her Own! What’s Her Secret? Watch This!
This is Emma Morano. She lives by herself in her home country of northern Italy. And she is 116 years old. Just last week, Susannah Mushatt Jones died in her New York home at age 116, leaving Emma as not only the oldest person alive but the only person left in the world who was born in the 1800s. Born on November 29th, 1899, Emma lived out the entire 20th century in her northern Italy home. Now she’s sharing with us her secret to a long and healthy life. Watch the video below to see what Emma has done to make it to 116.
Emma’s physicians say that she is something of a phenomenon, not just for reaching her age, but because she takes no medication and has had essentially no health problems to speak of. The doctor believe there is a genetic component as well, especially considering that one of Emma’s eight siblings lived until she was 102.
And, what we’re all dying to know, is what Emma’s secret is to a long life. Her answer?
“For breakfast I eat biscuits with milk or water,” she said to local newspaper, La Stampa. “Then during the day I eat two eggs — one raw and one cooked — just like the doctor recommended when I was 20 years old. For lunch I’ll eat pasta and minced meat then for dinner, I’ll have just a glass of milk.”
The other things Emma suggests have helped her live such a long, full life? Drinking her homemade brandy every so often and getting a good night sleep every night.
Words to live by.
