Oregon Nurse Placed On Administrative Leave After Showing Flagrant Disregard for COVID-19 Safety Precautions on TikTok

We are still in the middle of a pandemic. COVID-19 has not disappeared, and by now, we all know the recommended safety precautions. Wear a mask. Stay 6 feet away from people who aren’t members of your household. Don’t have parties or large gatherings. Socialize outside if you’re going to socialize but still wear a mask and social distance. Avoid traveling

You would think that medical professionals would know these guidelines too. They do, but do they all follow them? We would like to think that every healthcare worker follows the CDC’s guidelines regarding COVID-19, but one nurse not only ignored the guidelines but also decided to brag about it on TikTok.

An oncology nurse named Ashley Grames used to work at Salem Health, that is, until her workplace found about about her TikTok.

Grames TikTok video has been taken down, but it lives on in a duet TikTok posted by another TikTok user. In the video. Grames plays music from The Grinch along with the text explaining that the music represents her co-workers’ reactions when they find out how much she is ignoring every COVID-19 safety precaution.

“When my coworkers find out I still travel, don’t wear a mask when I’m out and let my kids have play dates.”

@amandabutcher2To each their own, but why would you brag about it to others? 🤦🏻‍♀️ I guess we could ask Loveiskind05 ##nurse ##covid ##health ##pandemic ##fyp ##foryou♬ original sound – Amanda Butcher

After seeing the TikTok, many people pointed it out and complained about it to Salem Health via their Facebook page. While Salem Health has not mentioned Grames by name, they have admitted to putting a nurse on administrative leave due to a video posted on social media by this nurse.

Yesterday, a nurse employed with Salem Health posted a video on social media which displayed cavalier disregard for the seriousness of this pandemic and her indifference towards physical distancing and masking outside of work…This individual does not speak for Salem Health and has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.”

There have been over 4 million COVID-19 cases in the United States so far this year. Salem Health wants everyone to know that the views of one nurse do “not reflect the position of Salem Health or the hardworking and dedicated caregivers who work here.”
