Everyone knows that the bond between mother and child runs deep. This connection is an unbreakable one and both parties feel it from the moment the child is born. But it’s hard to imagine what this bond looks like unless you’ve had a child — or unless you’ve seen this touching video!

After delivering the baby via a Cesarian in Santa Monica hospital, this woman got to have an incredible experience holding her baby for the first time. Every parents’ first meeting with their child is obviously special, but this interaction is as unexpected as it is heart-melting.

Once the baby is safely delivered and drawing its first breath, they bring little Ágata Ribeiro Coêlho towards her mother, Brenda Coêlho de Souza, to meet her for the very first time.

Now, if you think carrying someone in your womb is intense, you haven’t seen a mother meet her child for the first time. That initial external touch is an incredible thing to see, especially when the connection was as instantaneous as it was for Brenda and Ágata.

The baby is brought up to Brenda’s head — and she immediately wraps her arms around her mother’s face. It even looks like she is kissing her on the cheek or the nose! Brenda herself seems a little tired and loopy (likely from the medication she might be on to cope with the pain) but you can see in her eyes how much she already loves her newborn.

Even when Ágata cries out, she’s quickly soothed by how close she is to her 24-year-old mother, and her refusal to let go of mom’s face leaves the entire medical staff in awe.

Brenda, who works as an administrative assistant, said this about their first meeting:

“It was an incredible moment when my daughter hugged me for the first time. Ágata is now three months old and is doing great, every day is a surprise and I love being a mother.”

Seriously, we need tissues on hand just to watch this video! We’ve never seen the immediate and genuine bond between mother and child better illustrated than it is in this video. Thanks to the family for sharing this sweet moment!
