Netflix is Set to Release a Limited TV Series About the Life of Selena Quintanilla

It’s been nearly 25 years since the late, great songstress, Selena Quintanilla, was murdered by a jealous business associate. Ever since her untimely death, the public has stood by the singing phenomenon, as her music lives on, even after her passing. There, of course, is a powerful reason for this: by the age of 23, the Tejano musician had managed to do something that virtually no other artist before her had achieved–a successful crossover from the Latin to the mainstream market.

Even almost a quarter of a century after her death, fans young and old continue to have a fascination with the talented artist. Seeing this, Netflix recognized a huge opportunity. Today, the studio and streaming platform announced that it would be producing a show entitled Selena: The Series. According to the studio, the series will serve as a coming-of-age story, which closely follows the details of the singer’s upbringing as well as her road to fame.

Selena: The Series will be written by crime drama alum, Moisés Zamora, and will be co-produced by Campanario, a production company that consists of the late singer’s surviving family, including her father Abraham Quintanilla Jr.

At this time, there’s not yet a premiere date attached to the project, but considering the vast amount of attention this announcement has already received, we’re guessing that Netflix will get on it quickly!
