Duchess Meghan of Sussex has just wrapped up quite the whirlwind year. From the outside, one might guess that 2018 was the best year of her life, what with the royal wedding, her becoming a duchess, and her getting pregnant so quickly after the wedding–but, sources close to the Royal Family are painting a very different picture of her daily reality.

In the past several weeks, we’ve given you details on the Duchess’ feud with her sister-in-law, Duchess Kate, over a supposed power struggle. At first, we didn’t want to believe it, but the tales of family infighting really seem to be sticking, with even more Royal sources coming out from the woodwork confirming the fight.

It’s very bad news for supporters of Meghan’s, because it seems to have popped up JUST after news of the feud with her father died down. Unfortunately for the Duchess, though, she has now been hit with yet another spell of bad press–more, very personal details on her broken relationship with her father have just been leaked.

In a story that was run on TODAY, we learned that Meghan’s dad, Thomas Markle, has just released a letter to the Daily Mail that was supposedly handwritten by the Duchess herself, in the wake of her wedding last May. Amongst other things, it details her heartache and feelings of betrayal after she had learned that her father was secretly working with the press to profit off of her marriage.

Daddy, it is with a heavy heart that I write this, not understanding why you have chosen to take this path, turning a blind eye to the pain you are causing.Your actions have broken my heart into a million pieces — not simply because you have manufactured such unnecessary and unwarranted pain, but by making the choice to not tell the truth as you are puppeteered in this. Something I will never understand.

Talk about heart-wrenching. Clearly, the Duchess feels utterly betrayed by the man who should be protecting her. The letter goes on to say:

If you love me, as you tell the press you do, please stop. Please allow us to live our lives in peace. Please stop lying, please stop creating so much pain, please stop exploiting my relationship with my husband. I realize you are so far down this rabbit hole that you feel (or may feel) there’s no way out, but if you take a moment to pause I think you’ll see that being able to live with a clear conscience is more valuable than any payment in the world.

Though we’ve attempted to remain impartial, we have to side with the Duchess on this one. The newest royal has endured more bad press than anyone should ever deserve and, sadly, it seems that her own flesh and blood are behind a bulk of it. It just goes to show you that someone can seemingly have everything in the world, but no amount of money or notoriety can repair a damaged family.
