McDonald’s April Fool’s Prank Backfires When Customers Complain They Were Excited to Try the Fake Burger
Some pranksters spend all year coordinating their pranks for April Fools Day, the day of playing tricks on friends and family. In recent years, companies have also joined in on the tradition, playing some lighthearted tricks on their customers.
McDonald’s thought they had a great joke in the bag, by introducing their McPickle Burger, which features rows of pickles instead of beef, and some cheese, all slapped between a sesame seed bun.
“Pickle lovers, it’s the news you’ve all been waiting for. We’re super stoked to announce the launch of our brand new McPickle Burger,” the company said.
Giving away the prank, they added, “Available until yesterday.”
The company thought they were being slick by offering something that sounded off-putting. They were awaiting a slew of angry customers confused, and talking about how gross the new burger sounded, all so they could say “April Fools!”
However, the complete opposite happened. People couldn’t wait to try this new pickle burger! And when customers found out it was all just a joke, they were kind of pissed off.
“Don’t play with me McDonalds… make this happen,” someone wrote.
“I understand this is an April fools joke but I would eat this 100%,” someone else replied.
“Heartbroken to find out this is fake,” another pickle-lover said.
Honestly, we’re kind of sad this isn’t real either. We love a good pickle! We’re McDonald’s probably could’ve made big bucks off of this invention had it been real, especially for all those pregnant women!
The good news is, if you really want a McPickle Burger, you can order your regular burger with extra pickles, and then just pick off the meat. It’s a bit backwards, but it works!
Were you upset to find out that the McPickle Burger was just a hoax? Would you have eaten this burger if it were real?
