Mayim Bialik Shares An “Embarrassing” Confession On TikTok

From the outside, it would seem like Mayim Bialik does everything. She cohosts Jeopardy! with Ken Jennings, stars in the Fox sitcom Call Me Kat and even has time to host her own podcast, Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown. This April, she’s set to direct the family dramedy As They Made Us. Quite frankly, there’s a lot on her plate. So how does she remain calm through it all?

In a recent TikTok video, Bialik shared an “embarrassing” confession—though it’s not embarrassing at all. In fact, it can probably help others who feel a heavy weight on their shoulders and need some time to decompress.

Bialik started feeling this way when the pandemic first hit—as did we all. With all the time being at home, she decided to transform one small space into something that could bring her the comfort she needed.

“This is kind of embarrassing but one of the things that I did during this last year of the pandemic is I tried to find spaces in my home that could bring me comfort,” Bialik said in the video. “Because without all the places that I normally go to distract me or do fun things, it was feeling kind of hard. It was feeling hard. So, I turned a tiny meditation corner in my bedroom.”

Bialik then prefaces her audience with “don’t laugh” before showing off all the kinds of things she put in that corner of her bedroom—from her crystals to stones, candles, incenses and more.

So how does she utilize this space? “This is my meditation corner,” Bialik went on to say. “I sit here. I turn off all the lights at night and I just put [one] light on and I light some candles. Sometimes I just sit. Sometimes I do meditate … I don’t mean to by embarrassed by it. It’s just something I’ve never had, and I really like it.”

The post received hundreds of thousands of likes, with thousands of comments from fans in support.

“Love this! Nothing to be embarrassed about at all,” someone wrote.

“Well done. Enjoy the peace and calm,” another added.

“GREAT IDEA! A safe and serene space right at home. I want to do this now! ,” someone else said.

“Good for you,” another said. “That’s a wonderful idea. You are taking care of you, that is so important. I love being around my special things. It brings me comfort.”
