Spoiler alert for anyone waiting for season 7 of Fox’s popular series The Masked Singer! Apparently, former Trump attorney and New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani was a contestant on the show—but it’s unclear if the episode will ever make it to air.

According to multiple sources, when Giuliani, a controversial political figure, revealed his face, two of the show’s judges, Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke, walked off stage in protest. The other two judges, Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger, stayed on the set, but then had a whole conversation with Giuliani over his issues during the 2020 election. Giuliani falsely claimed the 2020 presidential election was rigged, making attempts to overturn results for Trump.

The Masked Singer features celebrity contestants in various costumes where they perform their songs and share hints about who they are. They later reveal themselves by removing their costume—when the gasps are cued.

It’s not surprising that the show would choose such a controversial contestant. In fact, that’s sort of what the show is about—making sure the reveals of the celebrities are jaw-dropping and exciting—even if the excitement is construed as negativity.

In fact, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened on the show. The show is known for its jaw-dropping surprises when celebrity contestants shed their headpieces after they are eliminated. In March 2020, they had former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin on the show, revealing herself as the singer behind a bear costume.

“Maybe I’ve been a bit polarizing, but just like a bear, it’s been to protect my cubs,” Palin said in a pre-taped video that she made before her elimination on the show. At the time, judge Nick Cannon said that the reveal made him “the most shocked” since his tenure on the show. However, though shocked, none of the judges walked out on set with her appearance like the two did with Giuliani.

It’s reported that Jeong and Thicke later returned to the stage, but it’s not clear yet how long they had left.

The most recent winner of the show was Jewel, after he rendition of “Queen of Hearts” in December 2021. The show is set to return for its seventh season on Fox on March 9. We’re curious to see if the Giuliani episode will make it to air!

Do you think Giuliani was a good choice for the show? Why or why not? Do you think the episode is ever going to make it to air?
