Major Recall Has Been Issued For Popular Starbucks Beverages Sold Nationwide

If you like to start your day with a caffeinated beverage, you’re not alone. While some people opt for soda, an energy drink, or tea, our favorite morning pick me up is coffee.

Not all coffee is created equal. There are many different ways to enjoy it. Some prefer a dark roast or a light roast. Some prefer to add heaps of sugar and cream. Many prefer a fancy coffee drink from a place like Starbucks. Others prefer to skip the drive-thru and keep Starbucks bottled or canned beverages in their home for easy access any time of day.

If you get your caffeine fix via Starbucks Double Shot Espresso drinks, listen up, especially if you have any of these drinks in your home right now. PepsiCo has issued a recall for 250,000 cans of the Double Shot Espresso beverage due to a “best buy” date issue. The recalled beverages have a “best buy” date of March 28, 2022, but it’s possible that they may actually go bad before that date, which could cause health issues.

The recall was initially issued in September 2021, but since the “best buy” date is getting closer, it’s even more likely that the beverages have spoiled by now.

Here is a list of the beverages effected by the recall:

  • Starbucks Double Shot Espresso, Espresso & Cream, 6.5 fl. oz., UPC 012000001772
  • Starbucks Double Shot Espresso, Espresso & Light Cream, 6.5 fl. oz., UPC 012000008801
  • Starbucks Double Shot Espresso, Espresso & Salted Caramel Cream, 6.5 fl. oz., UPC 012000007293

If you have any of these beverages listed above with a best buy date of March 28, stop drinking them right away. You can either throw them out or return them to the store where you bought them for a full refund.

If you have experienced any symptoms that you think may be related to drinking these beverages, it’s a good idea to talk to your doctor.

According to PepsiCo, the reason these particular beverages may spoil before their “best buy” date is due to a sealing issue. These same beverages with different best buy dates and different UPC codes are not effected by the recall and are safe to consume before their “best buy” date.

What’s your favorite caffeinated beverage? Do you drink Starbucks coffee? Do you have any of the recalled Starbucks products in your home?
