If you’re in a healthy relationship with a significant other, don’t take that for granted. Appreciate it. The dating scene is brutal.

While many thought being ghosted was as bad as it could get, it turns out that there’s an even worse dating trend that many, many people are experiencing, only now, they finally have a name for it.

In a video posted to TikTok, singer-songwriter Mariel Darling shared with her followers that she is a victim of this new dating trend, and she put a name on it. She’s being “zombied.”

What does it mean to be zombied? Well, if being ghosted is when your date ignores you and stops responding to texts, calls, etc., being zombied is similar but worse. It starts as being ghosted, but then, according to Darling, “It’s like ghosting but he comes back from the dead after a couple months and hits you up.”

Many people can unfortunately relate to Darling’s dating predicament. One comment reads, “Have you ever noticed that they all zombie you at the same time? Like why are four guys from my past all hitting me up on the same day???”

Another viewer kept with the dying metaphor to coin yet another term. She claims she’s “being corpsed.” The comment reads, “I’m being corpsed… getting the bare minimum and dry sporadic responses.”

While Darling considering being zombied when someone she once dated contacts her “after a couple months,” the rules aren’t that strict. Some people in the comments say they’ve been zombied after a couple years.

One comment reads, “months?!?!?! Try years later acting like we spoke last week.”

While Darling may consider this a new dating trend, some people claim that isn’t actually new at all. One person commented, “Nothing new dudes been doing this. They come back cos they know ur a keeper but wasn’t ready to be serious whey they 1st met you.”

Have you ever been ghosted, zombied or corpsed? Which do you think is worse? Do you think these are new dating trends, or do you think these dating trends have been around for a long time, and these are just new names for the trends?
