If you watched the Oscars last Sunday, chances are, you were completely and utterly dazzled by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s performance of the hit “Shallow” from their movie A Star is Born. Everything about the presentation of the song was on point–from the stripped-down piano arrangement by Gaga to the quiet intensity of gravely-voiced Cooper. You probably also noticed another thing–and, if you didn’t, don’t worry because the rest of the world did…CHEMISTRY GALORE!

Yep, the chemistry between the famous co-stars was so fiery, so passionate, so arresting that viewers everywhere quickly became absolutely convinced that something just HAD to be going on between these two. Like, for realsies.

It wouldn’t be so outlandish for two actors in a blockbuster to fall in love in real life, of course. After all, so many before them had done it, and the fact that Gaga’s engagement from her beau had dissolved just prior to the Oscars added even more fuel to the fire.

That said, others were quick to point out that Cooper is still very much committed to his longtime partner, supermodel Irina Shayk, with whom he has a child. Heck, she was even seated right in the audience, probably just as enraptured by the performance as everyone else.

Well, although the speculations are juicy, certainly, even Lady Gaga had enough of hearing about them! In fact, she went on Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show to set all of those romance rumors straight. Sure, it might not be the truth that fans WANT to hear, but we think her explanation makes a whole lot of sense.
