If you are an animal lover like us, you know all too well that there is nothing more heart-wrenching than having to witness a furry friend in agony. Luckily, there are plenty of good-hearted folks out there who have made it their mission to protect these beloved creatures.

Take the people over at Animal Warriors of India; whether it’s a snake, parrot, or even a baby buffalo in need, these intrepid animal rescuers never discriminate, they just help!

Recently, the main members of this group, Pradeep Parakuth, Santoshi Jaddu and Anthony Prabhu, received a call from a homeowner near Secunderabad, India, saying that a small kitten had fallen down a 6-inch wide borewell (basically just a fancy word for a long PVC pipe), and was stuck about 30 feet down.

Although it may seem like an unlikely situation for a cat to get itself into, the group says that they have been called on to assist in five other similar rescues, so, fortunately, they have quickly become old pros at this!

With that said, the saving of this kitten did not go as smoothly as the rescuers would have hoped. For one, it took them around 5 hours from start to finish to complete the mission, something that put quite the stress on the little kitty below.

You see, the teeny-tiny feline was in a very precarious position—her entire body was submerged in the water below her, with only her little head peeking up above the surface. She had managed to find some grip to hold herself up, but, judging by her wailing cries, her strength was weakening by the minute.

The kitten with nine lives

As we mentioned, the rescuers at Animal Warriors of India had encountered this exact problem several times prior, so they knew just how to get this meowing feline out. They tied a mesh bag to the end of a long support rope and dropped it down into the hole, but quickly realized that they would have to attach a camera to the apparatus in order to keep tabs on the tabby.

After hours and hours of failed attempts, the kitten was able to secure a grip by biting onto the bag; that’s when the rescuers quickly hoisted her up to safety. Once back with the living, she was warmed up with a hairdryer and some well-deserved cuddles.

Although this particular tale turned out to be a joyful one, unfortunately, not each one has a happy ending. The amazing animal guardian angels urge those that have these wells on their property to seal them properly in order to prevent similar incidents. Sounds like something we can definitely get behind!
