Kim Kardashian Receives Backlash for the Outfit She Wore While Visiting the Vatican

Kim Kardashian recently visited the Vatican with Kate Moss, and she posted pictures from her visit on Instagram. She wrote, “We had the most incredible experience touring Vatican City.” She added, “It was amazing to be able to view all of the iconic art, architecture and ancient Roman sculptures in person, especially Michelangelo’s works.”

That’s great. It sounds like she enjoyed the visit and really appreciated it, but many of her followers are shocked at the dress she chose to wear for the visit. Even Kardashian seemed to realize that some people might wonder how she thought this particular dress was an appropriate choice considering the dress code requires visitors to cover their shoulder, chest and knees. Of the three, Kim’s knees were covered if see-through counts as covered.

At the end of the text accompanying Kardashian’s photos, she wrote, “Don’t worry, I adhered to the dress code and fully covered up while inside St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel’s.” By “covered up” it seems that she draped a leather jacket over her shoulders. Hmmm.

While some of her followers commented with heart emojis, a few even complimented her dress. One person wrote, “Let me get that dress for my wedding reception!”

Yet, many other comments are quite the opposite. They think this dress is completely inappropriate for the Vatican and don’t understand why Kardashian would choose to wear it. One comment reads, “You really wore that to the Vatican?!?!”

Another person wrote, “I love you Kim but this is so inappropriate. I know your brand is wearing the least amount of fabric but for us catholics this is a sacred place. The fact that you could care less is beyond me.”

Some people think the only reason she got away with wearing this dress was because of her celebrity status.

Do you think the dress Kim Kardashian wore to the Vatican was inappropriate? Why do you think she chose to wear a dress that she knew didn’t comply with the Vatican’s dress code? Do you think a non-celebrity would’ve been allowed to wear the same outfit in the Vatican?
