Back in January 2024, Princess Kate Middleton had a planned abdominal surgery and was in the hospital for two weeks before going home to continue her recovery. At the time, Kensington Palace announced that Kate would most likely not return to her royal duties until after Easter, which would mean April at the earliest. The Palace also explained that they would not be giving updates about her health unless they were “significant.”

Now, about 2 months later, Kate has been spotted in public for the very first time. She was in an SUV driven by her mother, and she was wearing dark glasses in the pictures taken by paparazzi. You can see these photos in the video below.

It also looks like Kate is officially scheduled for royal duties. On the British army’s website, there is a picture of Kate alongside the announcement about Trooping the Colour, which is a celebration of the King’s birthday. This event is scheduled for June 8th, 2024.

While Kate has attended Trooping the Colour every year since marrying Prince William, with the exception of 2020 when it was canceled due to Covid, this will be the first time that she is responsible for inspecting the soldiers during the horse parade.

The website explains, “Taking part will be over 1400 soldiers of the Household Division and The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, including 400 musicians from the Massed Bands, all of whom will parade on Horse Guards for the second of two formal Reviews. Trooping the Colour reviewed by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales also includes 250 soldiers from the Foot Guards who will line the processional route along The Mall. The soldiers will be inspected by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales, Colonel Irish Guards.”

Kensington Palace, which is responsible for confirming Prince William and Princess Kate’s official royal engagements, has yet to confirm that Kate will be at the event, but tickets are already on sale.
