We’ve seen makeup do some pretty incredible stuff, namely, transform people using the power of cosmetics. Search Instagram, YouTube, or even just the general interweb, and you’ll find thousands of “makeup transformations,” in which people dramatically morph their appearance for fun (and for views, likes, and clicks because it’s the internet.)

Professional makeup artists and novices alike have cataloged transformations into white walkers, famous cartoon characters, or even just more confident versions of themselves. That’s the beauty of makeup – it can help you become anything or anyone that makes you feel good!

But of all the makeup transformations we’ve seen or heard about, none are quite like this. Turning yourself into a popular TV character is one thing, but turning yourself into a real-life celebrity lookalike? Not something you come across every day on your Facebook feed.

Right This Minute recently showed a video on their show of a young woman doing what looks like a makeup tutorial. Just seconds into the video, it’s clear she’s not doing your average, what-to-wear-on-a-date makeup – she’s transforming the entire look and shape of her face.

“I want you to try and take a guess as to who this person is being transformed into,” Oli Pettigrew, one of the hosts of the show, asks his co-hosts.

Makeup artist Marina Makeup begins by prepping the subject’s skin and putting on a full face of foundation before she really gets to work. The first noticeable change in her face is the sculpting of her nose; the front and the sides are shaded and contoured so that it completely changes it shape.

As soon as this first change is made, one of the co-hosts yells out the correct answer: “Julia Roberts!”

We can immediately see the Hollywood star in the shape of the nose, too! But this distinctive feature isn’t where the likeness ends.

She goes on to make the subject’s eyes more hooded, to change the shape of her brow line, and even using contouring to change the depth of her forehead and cheekbones. The final touches are expanding the mouth, donning a classic Roberts lipstick, and parting the hair just right.

And voila! The young woman who was there moments before is gone, replaced by an almost spot-on clone of one of America’s biggest stars.

Granted, this video was sped up, but we were still impressed by how quickly this makeup artist transformed her into a completely different person, using nothing but makeup. If this isn’t a mind-blowing example of the true power of makeup, we don’t know what is!
