John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John electrified audiences playing Danny and Sandy in 1978s musical and romantic comedy smash hit Grease. The film went on to gross over $366 million dollars and earned Travolta and Newton-John Best Actor and Best Actress nominations at the Golden Globes. Only the song “Hopelessly Devoted to You” was nominated for an Academy award in the Best Original Song category.
In an instagram post Travolta paid tribute to his Grease Co-Star:
