Actor Jamie Foxx took to Instagram to share a video update about his health. If you remember, back in April, 2023, Foxx’s family shared that the star was rushed to the hospital due to a “medical complication.” He was in Atlanta filming a Netflix movie called “Back in Action” at the time.
Over three months later, Foxx is finally ready to speak on camera. While the exact “complication” has yet to be disclosed, and Foxx did not reveal exactly what his diagnosis was in his recent post, he did thank his fans and share an update on his health.
Foxx started the video by thanking “everybody” who has prayed for him and messaged him during his health scare. He said, “I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back.”
While Foxx’s family was vague about his health condition except to say that he was “on his way to recovery,” Foxx is a little bit more clear about just how serious the “complication” really was. He said, “I went though something that I thought I would never ever go through.” He described the ordeal as going “to Hell and back.”
Foxx continued his post by explaining why he hasn’t shared more updates about his health. He said that while he knew his fans “wanted to hear updates,” he didn’t want his fans to see him “like that,” meaning he didn’t want to share pictures or videos of himself while he was in such poor health. He added, “I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”
Then Foxx credited his sister and daughter with saving his life. He thanked them as well as God and “a lot of great medical people” for the fact that he was able to survive. He also thanked his family and the medical team for keeping his situation “air tight” and protecting him from the media.
Foxx admitted that there are drawbacks to not sharing details about his condition because he knows people tend to make up stories. He debunked some of those stories proving that he’s not blind or paralyzed; however, he did make it clear that the unnamed “complication” was very serious.
While he is not 100% back to his former health, Foxx explained that he is recovering and “able to work.”
