Actor James Caan died on July 6, 2022 at the age of 82. The actor’s family announced the news on Twitter, but they did not list of cause of death.

Now, over 2 weeks later, we know the cause of death of the actor who was best known  for his roles in movies including “The Godfather,” “Brian’s Song,” “Misery,” and “Elf.” He had a heart attack.

According to the death certificate, which was obtained by TMZ, the cause of death is listed as “myocardial infraction” and “coronary artery disease.” In addition, the actor also suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and  congestive heart failure; although, those conditions were listed as underlying conditions and not the actual cause of death.

The actor died on July 6th at 9:02pm at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He was buried at Eden Memorial Park.

Many of Caan’s former co-workers turned to Twitter to share their condolences on the news of his death. They remembered their experiences working with him and expressed sympathy to his family. Many of Caan’s fans also tweeted their favorite memories of the actor on screen and even quoted some of his memorable lines.

Caan is survived by 5 children.
