Ina Garten Shares Cocktail Recipe at 9:30am Because “It’s Always Cocktail Hour in a Crisis”

The coronavirus outbreak has hit the world hard. It’s hard to remember what life was like even just a few weeks ago. People were still going to work. Restaurants were still able to serve us. Kids were still in school. What a time that was.

Now? We’re lucky if we can make it to the grocery store (one of the few places we’re allowed to go) and back without feeling anxious. Plus, if the virus itself isn’t what hurts us, it’s the boredom that will do it.

While it doesn’t sound like the worst of problems, many people are finding themselves, well, bored out of their skull. You can organize your kitchen cabinet for the umpteenth time or binge-watch the new Netflix series Tiger King until you’re blue in the face, but chances are, you’re going to feel just slightly bored at some point.

Well, don’t be too upset about it yet. Food Network star Ina Garten has a brilliant idea for what you can do if you’re feeling off during this pandemic: Drink.

Okay, so you’ve probably already thought of that already, but if liquor stores are closed near you, then what are you to do?

Garten has answered our prayers with an awesome cocktail recipe she posted to her Instagram page. The best part is the timestamp at which she shared it: 9:30 a.m.

“It’s always cocktail hour in a crisis! Recipe link in profile. #staysafe,” she captioned the video. Perfect.

The video starts off with Ina confidently telling us that at a time like now, it’s all about keeping up with traditions—and for her, that means making a big batch of cosmopolitans.

“During these stressful times, it’s really important to keep traditions alive,” she says. “My favorite tradition is the cocktail hour.”

Ours too, Ina, ours too.

She then breaks out an enormous pitcher—“because I like to make a lot of cosmos,” she says—and gets to work on crafting the perfect cocktail.

She then claims the pitcher isn’t just for her. “You never know who’s going to be stopping by,” she says. “Wait a minute, no one’s stopping by!”

We didn’t know she was a comedian, but we’re really feeling her energy on this one.

After she whips up her cocktail, she pulls out a massive cosmopolitan glass. “In these times, this is really important,” she explains.

Ina Garten is pretty much our kindred spirit. See her amazing cosmo-making video in the midst of a quarantine below.
