How to Remove Tree Sap from Carpets

If you’ve recently dragged a freshly cut tree into your living room, chances are that you may have accidentally gotten some tree sap on your carpet. Unfortunately, this is one tricky thing to remove. Here are a couple of DIY Life’s favorite solutions:

  • Use an ice cube to rub over stained area. When the sap has frozen up a bit, it will harden. This will make it easier to pull or chip the sap off.
  • Rubbing alcohol and/or hand sanitizer can help harden and break up sap on carpets. Soak a microfiber cloth in alcohol or sanitizer and blot at the stain. Be sure not to rub too hard or the sap will work its way deeper into carpet fibers. After the sap dries a bit, you can pick it out of the fibers.
