How to Refill Your Swiffer Wet Jet Bottle
If you’ve got a Swiffer Wet Jet and don’t want to pay for refill bottles, you might want to try a “hack” suggested on Instructables.com. You probably need to be a little bit handy — but not much more.
We’ve seen a number of ways to save on Swiffer replacements — including a number of great tips submitted here on Tip Hero (see our related tips box at the bottom of this post for other Swiffer tips). One suggestion we’ve heard of for avoiding paying for Swiffer bottle refills is to just put together your own cleaning solution (such as mixing Mr. Clean and water) in your own spray bottle, and then just spraying the surface you’re going to clean and run the swiffer over it.
The work-around we came across recently shows how you can refill the Swiffer bottle with your own solution so that you can still use the Swiffer Wet Jet as it was intended to be used.
There are a few simple steps:
1. Drill a 5/16″ hole in the top (when upside down) of the bottle.
2. Hot glue a 5/16″ nut around the hole you just drilled.
3. Once cool, insert your 5/16″ bolt into the hole.
If you click through to the link provided at the bottom of this post, you’ll be able to see close-up pictures of how to this works.
We haven’t tried this maneuver yet ourselves, so curious to learn from others how well this solution works. If you’ve tried this, please let us know by posting a comment below. And also let us know if you have any other work-arounds for refilling your Swiffer bottle. Thanks!
