How to Make Flavored Coffee Syrups
Confession: I once in a while get serious cravings for Starbucks lattes. I am usually able to control these cravings with my own homemade flavored coffee, but sometimes, especially in fall or winter, there’s nothing like those seasonal, creamy lattes that Starbucks has. So when I saw this post from Molly at Econobusters, I got really excited. She goes into detail about how to make your own homemade coffee syrups with 1 cup water and 1 cup white sugar. You can basically make any flavor you’d like, but she shows you how to make vanilla syrup and cinnamon syrup.
Here’s a wonderful recipe from Molly that I can’t wait to try in the fall!
Pumpkin Spiced Latte
What You’ll Need
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup very strong coffee
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 teaspoons sugar (or one pack of Splenda)
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon (plus extra for dusting)
- 2 heaping spoonfuls of canned pumpkin
Heat all of these ingredients together in a pot over medium heat until the coffee is steaming. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream and cinnamon. No need to go to Starbucks for this seasonal favorite!
