Homemade All-Natural Ginger Ale

Ginger ale is a go-to remedy if you’ve got an upset stomach, and ginger itself is a remedy for so many common ailments. However, the ginger ale you’d buy at the store is often loaded with so much sugar and other additives.

So when you’re looking for a better, healthier solution, try your hand at making your own! Here’s what you need:

-4 cups water
-4 cups sliced fresh ginger root
-2 tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice
-2 tbsp honey
-Sparkling mineral water or club soda

Here’s what you do:

  1. Combine water and ginger over high heat in a medium saucepan.
  2. After the water reaches a boil, reduce the heat to medium low, cover and simmer.
  3. Remove the lid and continue to simmer for 30 minutes or so.
  4. Remove saucepan from heart and stain the mixture to remove ginger.
  5. Stir in the lemon juice and the honey. Then cool completely.
  6. To make the ginger ale, put a some ice in a glass, add 1/4 cup of your ginger syrup, and fill the rest of the glass with sparkling water.
