Every vehicle has a state issued license plate. What’s on that license plate might be a completely random assortment of letters and numbers, and many people are fine with that; however, some people like to be a little bit more creative.

For a few dollars more than your average license plate, you can have a vanity plate. This is a license plate that’s customized with letters and numbers of your choosing. Many people who have vanity plates use letters and numbers to make condensed versions of words or phrases that mean something to them. It could be something funny. It could be sentimental. Unfortunately, sometimes these plates get rejected due to guidelines that must be followed.

Mom and New Hampshire resident Wendy Auger first got a vanity license plate 15 years ago. She had wanted this specific plate for several years before getting it, but was unable to get it until the state of New Hampshire changed the character limit from 6 to 7.

Auger’s chosen plate reads “PB4WEGO.” This is supposed to be read like “pee before we go.” If you have children, you 100% understand why Auger would want this plate. She has four children, and it was something she found herself saying every single time they were about to leave the house.

After 15 years of proudly driving her minivan with the “PB4WEGO” license plate, Auger received a letter in the mail from the DMV telling her that her license plate was being recalled. She was confused because she has never received anything except compliments for the plate from other motorists. She claims many people have honked in approval or asked to take pictures of the plate.

According to the letter, the plate was being recalled because “excretory acts or functions” are not allowed on license plates. Auger thinks recalling her plate is ridiculous, and she decided to appeal the decision.

Auger told Seacoastonline, “Who has a mom or dad or parental figure who hasn’t said that to kids before leaving the house? I’m not the type to sit here with a picket, but come on.”

Ironically, every New Hampshire license plate includes the phrase “Live Free or Die.” In reference to that phrase, Auger said, “If I have to take it off the plate, then I’m not going to be able to live free.”

Thankfully, Auger was eventually allowed to keep her vanity plate. Watch the video below to find out the surprising way Auger was notified that she wouldn’t have to change her license plate.

Do you think “PB4WEGO” is offensive? Do you have a vanity license plate?
