With Halloween just on the horizon, you might be getting excited for all the costume ideas brewing in your head. All the seasonal movies that’ll start to appear on the TV channel. All the candy you’re going to make excuses to eat.

But best of all, getting ready for Halloween requires getting all your ghost and goblin décor together. If you go all out on your Halloween decorations, you know what we’re talking about!

But if you’re looking for something new and different this year—something that’s really going to scare the bajesus out of your neighbors—then we have the perfect idea: Huge, realistic-looking spiders, all over your house!

For those with arachnophobia, the fear of spiders, aka one of the most common fears in the world, this may sound like the worst idea in all of Halloween decoration history. And if that’s the case, we’re sorry. You can stop reading now.

But if spiders aren’t something that gives you the willies, then you’re in luck: These DIY spiders are super easy to make and don’t even take up much time—and they look seriously awesome on the exterior of your home. (And not for nothing, but they’re a great visual relief from all the same pumpkins and witches we see time and time again!)

Making the spiders is easy, even if you don’t consider yourself a DIY-er. You just need a few supplies and maybe a half hour of your time. The directions are below. Note that you can get most of these supplies at your local crafts store.

What you’ll need:

• Two half-sphere wire globes (8-inch and 16-inch)
• Furry fabric that resembles spider fur
• Stem wire (16-gauge)
• Foam tube (6 ft x 1 in)
• Zip ties

How to make the spiders:

1. Attach the two half-sphere wire globes together with the zip ties. This acts as your head and body.
2. Weave four pieces of wire on each side of the large globe to create the look of legs. You’ll want to loop thr wire around the frame on each side multiple times to secure them.
3. Cut and mold the fur to each circle. Hot glue might be needed to make it stay underneath, but might not be necessary.
4. Cut your foam tubing large enough to cover each of the wire legs. Make sure every bit of the wire is covered and pushed toward the body. Then bend each wire into the shape of legs.
5. Use twine, wire, adhesive strips or hooks to place them all over the the outside of your home.

See? Easy! You can make as few or as little as you like, but we’ve gotta say: The more spiders crawling all over your house, the better! Just know that you might get fewer trick-or-treaters this year…
