Couple Discovers Odd Detail in a Photo They Took at the “Shining” Hotel

There are two types of people in this world: those who believe in ghosts and those who think that people who believe in ghosts need to get their heads checked. Personally speaking, we’re pretty much on the fence when it comes to all things paranormal—although we have seen plenty of footage that has ALMOST made believers out of us

The latest piece of compelling paranormal footage comes to us directly from one of the most iconic locations for horror on the planet—The Stanley Hotel. In case you’re not hip on scary books and movies, The Stanley Hotel was the inspiration for Stephen King’s Overlook Hotel, which was featured in his iconic novel The Shining.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the 108-year-old Stanley has quite the haunted history. Over the years, countless guests have reported apparitional sightings in almost every possible nook and cranny of the hotel.

As a matter of fact, the phenomenon has driven the owners of the historic building to create their own night spirit tours, where intrepid guests are guided through some of the most haunted portions of the property.

Just last month, one of these amateur ghost hunters ended up taking quite the shot of what looks to be one of the hotel’s famous “dearly departed” guests.

How an ordinary guest’s photo wowed the paranormal community

Husband and wife John “Jay” Mausling and Jessica Martinez-Mausling were taking part in the hotel’s nightly spirit tour when Jay decided to take a photo of the lobby on his phone.

He and his family toured the grounds of the hotel without any in-person ghost sightings, but once they got home, the Aurora, Colorado residents noticed something unusual in Jay’s LG photo album.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Jay describes what it was like to flip through his pictures, only to be met with one insanely creepy image of what looks to be an iridescent blonde walking down the stairs just ahead of his ghost tour group.

“At first we tried to be logical and think we somehow missed her so we asked our kids, their girlfriends, and our friend if they remember seeing a little girl,” Jay explains. “Nobody did. We do not remember seeing anything on the stairs when we took the picture.”

OK, if that statement doesn’t make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, we don’t know what will!

After posting the creepy photo to social media, the Mauslings have become quite the celebrities in the paranormal community. In fact, the lucky shot even managed to catch the attention of Ben Hansen, a former FBI agent, and expert on all things paranormal. It doesn’t get more legit than that!

To meet the Mauslings and see the ghostly snapshot for yourself, be sure to watch the video below. We’ll admit it; we didn’t necessarily WANT to see a spirit in the photo, but we sure DID. Now we’re ready to get our butts to the Stanley Hotel in Colorado—we want our own ghost pic!

We’d love to hear your thoughts on this ghostly shot. Do you see the girl in the photograph? Have you ever visited the Stanley Hotel before? Have you taken any ghostly pictures that you would like to share?
