Garth Brooks Says He Plans to Be the Only Person At Trisha Yearwood’s Thanksgiving Feast for 20 People

It’s that time of year again. The time of year when we buy a huge turkey, make way too many sides and desserts and invite all of our friends and family over to share the huge meal on Thanksgiving day.

Except, this is not an ordinary year. We’re still in a pandemic, and the CDC strongly recommends canceling any holiday travel plans. The safest way to celebrate Thanksgiving this year is staying home and having dinner with just the members of your household.

Not everyone is following the CDC’s guidelines, but Garth Brooks and Trish Yearwood are. It will be just the two of them for Thanksgiving dinner this year, but that doesn’t mean they’re not going to enjoy a huge feast.

Yearwood is an amazing cook. She learned her secrets from her family and mainly makes recipes passed down to her from her mom and grandmother. In 2012, she told Southern Living, “Now the majority of the things I cook are recipes from my mom and grandmother. They have passed away, but the recipes remain a way to stay connected with them.”

Yearwood is used to making a Thanksgiving feast that feeds 20 people, and even though Brooks is going to be the only one helping her eat Thanksgiving dinner, she still plans to make the exact same meal as usual. Brooks told Good Morning America, “Well, Thanksgiving plans are going to be the same and totally different at the same time. What the deal is, she’s still going to cook for 20 people, it’s just going to be me.”

Obviously Yearwood’s feast will include turkey. We don’t know what all of the side dishes will be, but we do know a couple she will be making.

In 2019, Yearwood told Good Morning America that her favorite Thanksgiving side dish is the cornbread dressing recipe her grandmother used to make. “My favorite thing to make on the Thanksgiving table is my grandma’s cornbread dressing. It’s a tradition that’s been passed down from generation to generation. It’s what I grew up on so I can’t imagine not having that on the table.”

Meanwhile, Brooks looks forward to mashed potatoes and turkey with gravy. Yearwood explained, “Garth loves gravy. So he looks forward to Thanksgiving for the homemade gravy with the turkey.” He also likes gravy with mashed potatoes, so she makes mashed potatoes for him even though she didn’t grow up eating it on Thanksgiving.

What are you going to be making for Thanksgiving this year? What’s your favorite side dish?
