There’s not much in life that is more heart-breaking than losing a child. We can only imagine how devastating it must be for parents to cope with their grief when their child has passed away. We hope we will never personally know that pain; although, we have seen other people suffer through it.

Gabby Petito‘s parents are mourning the loss of their daughter, who was murdered by her fiancee, Brian Laundrie while the couple was traveling together on a cross-country road trip. Her death was unexpected, and when Laundrie returned home without her, he disappeared instead of admitting guilt or even saying anything about what happened.

Brian Laundrie’s parents are also mourning the loss of their child, but their story is slightly different. After their son killed his fiancee, he returned home before disappearing and ultimately committing suicide.

The Petito family believes that the Laundrie family knew their son had killed Gabby. They believe the Laundries should have shared whatever information they had in order to help them find their daughter sooner instead of withholding information. They feel so strongly about this that they have filed a lawsuit against Brian’s parents, Chris and Roberta Laundrie.

Watch the video below for more about Gabby and Brian’s story and why Gabby’s parents have filed a lawsuit against Brian’s parents.

While we don’t know for sure what Brian did or did not say to his parents and their lawyers when he returned home from the road trip without Gabby, we do know for sure that he was responsible for her death. In a notebook that was found near his remains, he admitted that he killed his fiancee. It was one of the last things he wrote before he died.

Do you think Brian Laundrie’s parents were trying to help him leave the country? Why do you think Brian committed suicide instead of leaving the country, if his parents were in fact trying to help him leave? Do you think the Laundrie family should be held responsible for withholding information, or do you agree with the Laundrie family’s lawyer that their case is “baseless”?
