Walmart Announces They’ll Be Offering Free Thanksgiving Dinner To Shoppers

Thanksgiving is almost here, and with the CDC recommending that we don’t travel to visit family and friends for the holiday this year, we need to come up with an alternative game plan.

If you usually travel to visit family and friends for turkey day, you may not be used to the expense that comes with buying Thanksgiving dinner for your family. A traditional holiday meal that includes a whole turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and other popular sides can get pretty pricey especially if you have a lot of people to feed.

Even if you are used to making Thanksgiving dinner, like a lot of other people, you may have been hit hard financially this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Buying the ingredients for a festive meal might stretch your budget too far.

The Ibotta app wants to help. If you’re not familiar with Ibotta, it’s an app you can install, and when you buy groceries, you simply scan your receipt to earn cash back.

To make Thanksgiving 2020 a little bit easier, Ibotta is partnering with Walmart to offer cash back for the entire cost of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner! Watch the video below to learn more about how you can get reimbursed for the cost of your Thanksgiving dinner.

The free Thanksgiving meal includes a Butterball turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, boxed mashed potatoes, the ingredients for traditional green bean casserole and a 2-liter of Coke. The approved items are intended to feed a family of 5.

You do not need to buy every item available for this offer in order to get 100% cash back for the items on the list that you do want. If you need more that one of an item, or a bigger turkey, for example, that’s ok. Just realize that you won’t end up getting 100% cash back.

In order to take advantage of this free Thanksgiving dinner offer, you can either shop in-person at Walmart or online at Walmart.com. After completing your purchase, you can scan your receipt using the Ibotta app, or you can visit Ibotta’s website.

Once you see how easy it is to get cash back by using the Ibotta app, you’ll probably scan every grocery store receipt you get from now on because if you’re buying it anyway, you might as well get cash back.

In addition to Ibotta’s free Thanksgiving dinner offer with Walmart, Ibotta is also donating to Feeding America which provides food to food banks and pantries in the United States and Puerto Rico.
