FedEx Driver Shovels Woman’s Porch After Learning Her Husband Had Died Recently
Losing your spouse is one of the most detrimental things that could ever happen to someone. It’s almost impossible not to fall into a depression, without any desire to get out of bed to do anything. The love of your life is gone—and so is your energy and will to be out the trials and tribulations each day brings.
One woman and mom of three named Leigh Anne Skoda lost her husband at the age of 42 after a seven-month battle with cancer. As a new widow, she was struggling to raise her three kids alone, not to mention the smaller things in life—like having to put air in her tires. It felt like the biggest chore.
The Nebraska resident was having a hard time getting the cap off her tires in this particular situation, so she looked around for someone to help her. She noticed a FedEx truck parked near her street, and then realized she recognized the driver, whose name is Brian.
She had seen him several times before delivering packages in her neighborhood, so she decided to take a chance on him and ask him for help with her tires.
Of course Brian was more than willing to help her—and that was before he had learned about her recently becoming a widow. Once she told him that, he couldn’t get it out of his head. He felt so horribly that she had been through such a travesty.
He decided that he needed to do whatever it took to help her out in situations that went passed just putting air in her tires. But as just her FedEx delivery guy, what was he to do?
Suddenly he had an idea as he drove passed her house during a snowstorm: he would make sure her porch was shoveled so that she didn’t have to deal with that hassle. Without even telling her, he shoveled all the snow off her porch until it looked like it hadn’t even snowed.
Little did he know that her video doorbell camera would capture the entire act of kindness. Leigh Anne couldn’t believe what she saw when she checked out the footage—and was so moved by his kind actions.
“Doorbell cameras don’t only catch people stealing packages,” Leigh Anne wrote in a now viral Facebook post. “Our FedEx guy stopped and out of the kindness of his heart, scooped my sidewalks. I truly feel like we cross paths with people for reasons. Thank you Brian Scholl for just being you, and being one of the people who truly ‘get’ our situation!”
It just goes to show how much kindness there is left in the human race! It’s so true that the simple acts of kindness are sometimes the grandest.
